Letters: We really do need some good news
Dave Stewart
Crikey dick, but when you turn on to what is happening out there in the mad world you need some good news don’t you?
We got it today after the glum news about how Trump’s Trade War is plunging the global economy into a cesspit.
The rest of the world is getting grumpier and grumpier and old men with bushy eyebrows and trillionaires for aides are talking about taking over countries to boost security.
Just steal them, plonk an army onsite and take over.
Like Vietnam, or Afghanistan.
What could possibly go wrong.
The scholars of history out there will know that trade wars precede actual wars, so we really do need some good news.
And guess what – the economy is fully recovered.
Everyone who needs their slashed budgets restored so they can provide those front-line services that were lost in the government’s job cuts that we weren’t going to notice can get all the money they need from the money tree.
Well, I assume that’s so because we’re off to the arms and weapons warehouse to spend $12 billion on war stuff.
Surely, we wouldn’t do ‘nice-to-have’ stuff like bigger guns and longer cannons unless we had got the basics right first?
Are we that stupid?
